About Aviation as Art

Aviation as Art is where flight history meets handcrafted design. This collection began with the discovery of original 1967 Bushby Mustang II plans — preserved, framed, and reimagined as timeless décor. From there, it has grown to include vintage aircraft dials, gauges, and dash components, ready to be transformed into lighting, furniture, and other functional art.

Each piece is built to honor the spirit of aviation’s golden age while bringing it into everyday life. Frames for now, lighting and furniture to come — every creation is handcrafted from locally sourced hardwoods and authentic aviation artifacts. The result is art that feels both industrial and refined, a bridge between the hangar and the home.

  • Every Matriarch Furniture Co. piece begins with carefully selected, locally sourced hardwoods. From walnut’s deep warmth to oak’s timeless grain, each board is chosen for character as much as strength. Natural finishes such as oils and waxes highlight the beauty of the wood while preserving its integrity for years to come.

  • Quality craftsmanship takes time. Because every piece is handmade start to finish, please allow ample time (usually 4–6 weeks) for design, build, and finishing before delivery. Lead times vary depending on the project size, but this process ensures each item is thoughtfully and skillfully created — never mass-produced.

I do not believe in putting out subpar work. If for any reason there is a delay due to material quality or craftsmanship standards, you will be updated immediately with a revised schedule.

  • No two pieces are ever alike. Natural variations in wood grain, tone, and texture mean your frame or furnishing is one of a kind. These differences are not imperfections but proof of authenticity — reminders that your piece was made by hand, from real timber, carrying its own story.
