The Story…

Matriarch Furniture Co. was born from a deep need for creativity and purpose. After years in project management and real estate, I realized that while I loved helping people find homes, the long hours at a computer in addition to dissappointing industry shifts and government oversight no longer fed my soul.

In January of 2025, I was fortunate enough to travel to the UK to study classic woodworking at Rowden Atelier, where I discovered not just the discipline of “being a maker” but the quiet joy of creating something timeless with my own hands.

Now back in Virginia, I work from my shop handcrafting distinctive frames and a growing collection of vintage aviation art — pairing locally sourced timber with historic aircraft plans and artifacts. Each piece is built to honor both craft and story, an ongoing experiment in balancing design with intention. As my skills grow, so does my vision: to expand into larger furnishings and heirloom-quality pieces that carry both function and meaning.

More than just pieces of wood…

Matriarch is more than a frame & furniture company — it’s also a commitment to building something bigger than myself. At the heart of the brand is The Matriarch Mission, a grant program in progress that will fund trade school opportunities for women and girls who are incarcerated or rebuilding their lives. Until the program launches, a portion of every sale is set aside to bring it to life. Each piece created in the shop is not just wood and joinery — it’s a step toward that mission, rooted in resilience, second chances, and the belief that craft can change lives.

  • Every piece is handcrafted in Virginia using locally sourced timber. I focus on thoughtful design, visible joinery, and finishes that highlight the natural character of the wood. To me, Matriarch represents strength, resilience, and legacy — qualities I want every piece to carry as something worthy of being passed down.

  • Yes! While I currently focus on frames and small furniture pieces, I welcome custom requests. If you have a specific size, wood type, or idea in mind, reach out through the contact form. Larger furnishings and heirloom pieces will be added to the line as my skill set develops to match the high standards I have for each piece that leaves my shop.

  • Yes. A portion of proceeds is set aside for The Matriarch Mission — a grant program that will help women rebuild their lives through trade education. I’ll share more on the Mission page as it develops.
